What is a carbon footprint?
A Carbon Footprint is an estimated gauge of human impact on the environment in relation to the amount of green house gases generated. Your carbon footprint is measured in units of carbon dioxide.
Power use - principally electricity and gas - is a major contributor to a carbon footprint. Travel also greatly effects an individual's carbon footprint.
Why is it important?
CO2 is a greenhouse gas - a major contributor to global warming. It is our responsibilty to make changes in our daily activities and living to help clean up our environment, promote better air quality and reduce the production of greenhouse gases.
